Life was taken to lessen threats to the village.
Souls had to defend all they created, anytime.
In minds the will to maintain respecting spine.

No quarter was to be sacrificed to save plans.
Loving of community strengthened their guns.
Tide had turned insuring resolve to the cause.
Made was a statement to bolster all applause.

Report of resistance to hurt of danger spread.
Peace sought in memory of the grateful dead.
Long would last tales of the heroic stand here.
Spirit refused finally to cower in a vacant fear.
