Killed Dead (pt. 5)
Some Purgatory
Dust and prairie mirage
Fresh arrows for the barrage! Sent smoke signals align
The warrior rests his rage and his mustang heart
Remembering his prairie flower in silence
He thinks on past injustices galvanized by violence
"I still carry light. It burns sometimes. I let it blaze."
Friends have told him to keep that light and be sacred
Saying, "Because it is sacred. Look how blue it is."
"It's principles, brother. Principles and a holy lodge."
But, then the warrior is jealous and he knows principles
He says to his mustang heart, "Let's go."
Common sense goes out the window
He picks himself up and tries not to eye the fire water,
its glass vessel is suppressor to much feeling, much hate
He looks to the horizon where it's tranquil
It's there that he must go, it's there that he must kill
It's there where his prairie flower lies
Reluctantly, in the arms of the scourge, the bane of his peace of mind, the Taker, as he calls him
The thief of his life, who took his wife
"She will marry me. She will bear me...
sons and daughters who will be like me. A warrior!!"
The maddened general drinks and he curses the calm night
"It's gittin..it's a gittin!" he tells his cowboy, holed and cold heart, beating in a frenzy, like cavalry drums
"Withholdin, love? Goin' to get far from me in that hate? Bitch, Warrior is on the horizon! Warrior is gon' git me. Whatchu gon' do? Watch 'im slaughter me down? Like a cayuse he don't like? Like an appaloosa I am. Ah ashure, undoubt..undoubt yerself, woman. Ah am more than sure.
Ghost is gone. Loving Henry was my name. I had friends. I had me angels of mercy crying injuns. Injuns ruinate. That such a word? But git mah tongue.
Truth be rollin'. Ghost is gone."
The warrior charges his heart, the mustang is gnarl and snorts
Everything blurs
The fire in the water
"Pacify. Let me see the light."
"Let me get straight and out of this purgatory."
On goes the night
On goes the fight
And Prairie Flower will see
who will win...
who will be killed dead
