Kiss the Bride

"Bet on me."

Eyes of shady players, late night gamblers and businessman peered up from the table.

Undaunted by the display of arrogance they've seen a thousand times in the underground.

"Go on."

One man muttered with far too many breaths.

"I'm the one baby, I never lose."

Said I, sober and straight-faced.

"And I love my wife."

The room retorted with laughter.

"Your best man, right now."

Snarls and cheers.

I gave them no fear.

"You're making my night."

Out of the shadows and into the light stepped a man who would stand against me in a fight.

They didn't know that this man was the best man.

Wedding night, we came up with a great plan.

To rob these crooks and escape in a white van.

"Look man, you don't understand. I've killed a man with a single swing of the hand."

He raised his fists and displayed his kicks.

I rolled my eyes and loosened up my wrists.

Then he charged.

So fast and so, very hard.

I was ready.

Watch for the right hand.
