Lady of the Sky's

I heard the Vulcan Bombers raw from distance,as the sound traveled in the breeze
To this sad old lady of the sky's,it's just an unwelcome tease
Once the pride of the Royal Air Force,a deterrent to all enemy foes
Now sadly, put out to pasture,as the saying goes
For the crowds of people who saw her,the memories couldn't be fonder
She was made for a sealing of fifty thousand feet,up in the big blue yonder
From the cold war era she would emerge,a hero of the past
But don't forget,Operation Black Buck, this feet was unsurpassed
A daring attack on a target so far,by an aircraft we hold so dear
In 1982,the Falklands War,a British island which is not so near
Bombs were dropped on Port Stanley runway,to disrupt the Argentine advance
The Pride of the Royal Air Force, would give our boys a chance
I wish this lady was still flying,as in the air she loved
To see the V bomber, strutting her stuff, way, way up above
To visit this beautiful lady and emerce in the legend so proud
Avro Vulcan HX558,is at Robin Hood Airport, hanger 3,take a walk around
