Lamburger Gessler

Big brothers are a pain..
He used to tease me,
Now and again, saying I
was ' spoilt'..yet I felt
rather fresh at seven..
Not at all off..
' you're the favourite'
he'd yell, pull my braids
and run..
Like William Tells arrow
hot off the bow..
and he"d look and call
' Lamburger Gessler'
' Lamburger Gessler'
I'd smile, hes five years
older, my brother..
Now hes 66..
He buys me Chanel at Christmas..
and sparkly dresses..
I always loved that
Specky four eyed git!

This is a beautiful heartfelt write Pauline..i love the tone of this work, always my favourite kind of poetry. I have brothers, I get it. Pinned 💕
I agree with Marion, the tone is perfect! I don't have brothers but I have 3 boys and a girl... So my daughter has brothers and threw her eyes I can see just how perfectly written this poem is. The ending is just great x
Happy memory though was felt at the time.
Thankyou for your comments I have been feeling a bit ' down's of late and whilst at work my brother popped into my head and I wrote this as it presented to me, infact I nearly cried..it must be a sign of these times the lockdown..altered lives..being out of sorts..for the life of me I always thought William Tell was British, took me 60 years to find out he was Austrian( correction Swiss)will I have time to find out all the worlds mysteries.. ?
