Camelot and the Queen

The light was a golden amber
As it shown around her face
A face like ivory so unchanged
So intent on her task
He could better stare this way
Without the nosy old crones
The ladies of this kingdom
Wagging their very busy tongues
He was first knightÂ
Lancelot at King Arthur's court
His skilled sword and ready wit
Had won the King's favor to date
But the chills of premonition
Rolled up and down his spine
As he felt his throat and chest
Ache with this horrid emotion
Every time thus woman was near him
Quenivere
She was so beautifulÂ
She seemed unaware of her effect
On every man in the castle
Her hair fell to her waist in
Golden shining waves
Her eyes were the clearest blue
Her lips. well damn it to Merlin
Her lips were the softest pink
On her head was a crown
Simple but mighty
Queen of Camelot
Arthur's Queen
Now his intense nightmare
This feeling for this royal
obsession..his downfall
His instincts suggested
Unless he gains control
She moved away from the chair
Where she had been doing tapestry
He glanced up and caught her gaze
Oh no..she felt it too...
They were doomed

Love this, Dagnis! I especially like narrative poetry...you know, the sort that tells a story... so this was right up my street! Well done x
