"LAST NIGHT AN ANGEL SAVED MY LIFE"

Last night I was given
A thorn in my flesh
A thunder storm behind me
somewhere to the west
My heart beat as if
Every palpitation was at it's last
With every bit of my might
I fight to make it down the path
Until I could move no more
convinced death had come to claim
With the darkness descending
One final call of her name

(Sound of a slowing heartbeat)

My beloved black steed Midnight
Taken by the quick sand
Everything I held dear
Ripped right from my hands
No food, no drink
I'm weary and weak
I have counted the days
That I've gone without sleep
To make it home
Was my prominent goal
And wed the woman
Whose smile captured my soul

(Clouds cover the sky as rain begins to fall
Followed by Thunder and Lightening)

Water from Heaven pours with
A vengeance I've never seen
I slip and fall to the Earth
Life slowly drains from me
Will I drown, die I this storm
Farewell to a cruel world
That's damned, give up the ghost
Spirit of a broken man
As the forest fades into a haze
There is a shimmering light
An outline of a figure
But it blinds my eyes

(A tree is struck by lightning and falls to the forest floor)

It moves toward me, closer
Until I can vaguely make out a face
Have I already crossed over
The light fills this desolate place
A beautiful creature with wings
Supernatural, beyond human, appears
Adrenaline floods my system
Yet there is no fear
She speaks, but I can't make out
The words, just stare in awe
Hypnotized, she reaches out to
Touch me and I instantly feel solace inside
Then everything goes black

(The angel picks the man up from the ground
and carries him away)

I awake to my surprise
certainly sure I've lost my mind
What catches my attention
Someone singing by my side
I lie in large bed
A thick blanket over me
A room, a warm fire
How can this be
Then this sweet gentle voice
Asks me if I am alright
And as my subconscious remembers
Last night, an angel saved my life

Is this real
I am alive
that was no dream
She carried me to the sky
Now here we are
Her hand on my cheek
How did she know
What brought her to that creek
The song from her lips once more
Soothes me to the core
A deep breath and a sigh
Grateful for this angel
That saved my life
