Latched On

Latched On

In a bedroom,
One dreary rainy day,
Me this lonely boy,
Was asked if I wanted to play.
A friendless kid who made a choice,
Knowing not of consequences coming to be,
Out of nowhere spoke a soft but dark voice,
Implying that he was friendly.
I asked who are you,
He quickly told me his name,
Replied it was David,
And said little Johnny would you like to play a game.
So naive how did he know,
Without a care I'd accept,
To this day I can't let it go,
Delaying the game my parents interrupt.
Wanting to know who I was talking to,
I repeated his name again,
They just thought how cute,
Johnny has an imaginary friend.
From that day it began,
So little did my parents know,
The game we would all play,
Tortured from shear terror in pursuit of one little boy's soul.
Noises from everywhere,
Banging on the wall,
Scratching from the attic,
Every night screaming to two tired parents,
Who would come running down the hall.
In a short time they thought I was crying wolf,
I didn't have any actual proof,
But all the latter meals at the breakfast table,
I could see on their faces they were starting to know the truth.
David always in my ear,
Telling me bad things that I should do,
Putting added stress on a struggling family,
What their dealing with they haven't got a clue.
Then one afternoon I had enough,
Somehow this has to end,
Baring my teeth in a vicious grin,
I told that evil David you are not my friend.
Don't talk to me no more,
Leave me and my family alone,
Stop this game,
And be gone from my home.
I still can't believe that day what occurred,
As that room went dark and the walls started to bleed,
The most sinister laugh I ever heard,
Then appearing a dark figure in a hooded robe,
Grabbing my arms holding me down saying i'll never leave.
Beyond fear something filled me with light,
I had hope for survival,
Something rose up within me banishing this entity from my sight,
I knew what to do and that's get me a bible.
Were not a real religious family,
But I still easily found it within the bookcase,
Reciting the words of God,
Rid the evil from this place.
So miraculous out of nowhere the sun,
Came shining in,
A weight of negativity lifted,
A new life to begin.
Since then I never looked back,
Making life as good as it can be,
Once in a while I get this feeling I can't shake,
Like something is watching me.
