Le Dejeuner

Le Dejeuner

It was lunch not dinner, everyone's a winner,
the confusion was paramount when you're a beginner;
we sat at Sunnyside Park, one of the best places,
it was gauranteed you'd see some familiar faces.

Not Johny Depp again, well yes, no one like him now,
it didn't matter, why should he worry anyhow,
must be strange when you can't buy a newspaper,
and you're reduced to being a permanent escaper.

The traffic lights had nicely changed to Amber,
whether you liked it or not - in favour of her;
we said - what are you doing now - not a lot,
a bit of aftershave, I'm something that time forgot.

We spoke about chess, he used to be a player too,
then gave me a smile - 'I'l beat you whatever you do,'
