Leaf

Leaf

My eyes closed,
Lips pursed silent,
Hands, as if, tied to my sides,
Like a yellowing leaf,
Here I am, stuck
To a tree I no longer recognize,
On a stormy fluxing crossroad.

I harbour yet, a flutter of hope-
A rogue gust from someplace nowhere,
Whisks me awhirl, spirits me away, and
Drops me to an unknown elsewhere.
For no more can I bear to remain
Held onto this meaningless
Pause of an existence.
