Left Breathless

Left Breathless

The incident 
happened so quickly
I came upon
a hold up
between 
32nd and Ontario St.

As I arrived
the perp
was fleeing
radio dispatcher
stated the suspect
was armed

I pulled my piece
and stated 
"let me see your hands!"
The perp ignored my 
commands
put a hand in his pocket
21 ft danger zone
applies
instinctly
I fired my 
weapon
Al Sharpton
was called....................

I spoke to Sharpton's secretary in the mid-1990's and convinced him to go to Sudan to witness modern day slavery....he said it changed his life.

I am sure it did!  My main purpose of this poem is to show quick an officer must make a decision.  Very difficult one....

This poem was however created to bring about controversy. Wanted to show an officer's perspective when confronted what he perceives as real and present danger.  Most people do no know the 21 ft rule
