Poem -

LEFT SOMETHING BEHIND

Hand in hand they walked along the South Bank
Some people eating food while other people drank
The Thames was flowing with it so much to seeĀ
Blue sky background made it pretty as pretty can beĀ

They stopped for a while along the Embankment pier
That's where he kissed her and trembled with fear
For tomorrow he would be the army's newest recruitĀ
Battle uniform provided in exchange for his suitĀ

She brushed his cheek and tried her best not to cry
Didn't think of the consequences that he might die
They resumed their walk with so much unsaidĀ
Who knows what things for them lay aheadĀ

Soldier boy would leave then his sweetheart behindĀ
This London walk would remain in his mindĀ
For her she would count the days of his returnĀ
No doubt with worry and so much concern
