Left Standing There

Left Standing There

It was the last day
of
school
Dreams
of the
pool
Vacation Bible School
Summer Camp
Making Smores
around the fire
Catching fire flies
and she was left
standing there..........

She sat
on the curb
without
a care in the
world
Mom and Dad
would
soon
pick her up
and take
her to
the first
outdoor concert
of the summer
at the local park
but as of now
She was left standing there

The sun began
to set
and the principal
came out to
the curb

Let's go inside and talk
There has been an
accident!

Many summers
have
come
and pass
Yet whenever
the Last day of school
comes around
this little
girl
Now a grown
woman
cannot help
but remember
she was
left standing there.................................................
