Lessons

What teacher can teach
When folks wont learn
Life at every turn
Pays out what fools earn

Momma and her child
With smacks not a few
Bracing for the chase
Prison cell's curfew

Stubborn points of view
Deep seated bias
Pride's protected ways
Strong hold of liars

The bed and money
And those dead because
Some think it's funny
Mark the road behave

Speaking out of turn
The whispers past stop
Thoughts with a bad taste
The intention steer

Death ever hungry
Babies ever born
Way to the wealthy
Between these two torn

Silence of the heart
Eyes shut wide open
Grace to those humble
See life in opal
