Let Me Be As You Have Found Me

Let me be, as you have found me
I'm too rough, but know how to be tender
My past with all it's ransom fee
Having paid it, please let me now render

What fitted me to be tender
Rough and ready from my trial and error
Has made in me a brute bender
My calm ever trust in God their terror

Life's tolls had their strong hold on me
Allowing passing, only manhood's could
This ransom paid, my quiet be
Let me be my own Man... As well you should

Have pity on me, for meeting
My life and liberty your confronting
Find me resolved in retreating
If only but now, for you concerting

I know from whence I am coming
Where I go, makes no wrong for retreating
Man must his own business mining
No matter how others him their treating

Let me be as you have found me
I'm too rough, but know how to be gentile
My past with all it's ransom fee
Having paid it,Ā  please!... let's not be hostileĀ
