Poem -

LET ME OUT

LET ME OUT

I lay in amniotic fluid
swimming for nine months
attached by a life line
Which keeps my tummy full
With all my daily nutrients
Given from my mum

On the ultrasound
 you might see me frowning
sometimes I raise a hand
and give a cheeky wave
just letting you know I’m still here
I’m being very brave
It’s time to let me out
so upside down I turn
my  head against the cervix
I see the light I yearn

Being pushed now
Body squeezed real tight
Like a melon through a straw
my whole body moves forward
towards an open door

A sudden rush follows
As my water dissipates
Heart beat rises slightly
As  cant breath no more
Hurry up mother
Get me through that door

pressure now building
just around my head
bright lights now blinding
my first sight is her bed

Feel like I am flying
as I’m whisked through the air
then wrapped in something
soft and warm
feels like some one
really cares

In  some one’s arms now
My vision very blurred
Here’s your son I heard
Guess she is my mother
The connection is so strong

I raise my tiny hand
And explore my brand new world
place it on my mother’s cheek
feels wet and salty
as mother starts to leak

placed on breast to suckle
it tastes a little warm
and dribbles down my small form

to leave the warmth and solitude
to come into this madding world
we’re everything is surreal
but now at least I feel I belong
to a world that i have been given

Broken

Lost
Fearful, afraid
Trees sway, brace,
catching the breeze, owls
toot and hoot...
