Let The Spirit Take You

We made sandcastles, the tide washed my dreams away,
my dad said: 'Ne'er mind son, we had a good time today;
when my toes felt white coral sand when I was so older,
I remembered those old days when the water felt colder.
Sometimes we wish we were small, Xmas trees were tall,
everything nicely taken care of, coloured leaves in the fall;
but now we are in power, all of us living in our ivory tower,
we grew, evolved, our old life disappeared hour by hour.
My brother gave me a piggy-back thro' waving wheat,
all the money in my pockets drooped between his feet,
rain splattered on our caravan roof like machine gun fire,
if we'd stayed in the photo, of memory we wouldn't tire.
Those days gave me strength and spirit looked after me,
and was finally positioned exactly where I wanted to be.

Wow Terry this was so wonderful to read, I read it twice over. The nostalgia and innocence resonating from your words shine a light on the power and security of those precious childhood moments. A beautiful yet powerful poem

Positive write recapturing the past as we all like to do when we reach a certain point in our lives. Thanks for sharing. All the best to you.
