LIFE

It was given to me for free
I have often spent it unwisely

Sometimes it can be fun
Others a gnawing misery
Most times it worries me

I live and breathe
From day to day
I exist and I play
But from my troubles
I can never run
Too far away

I feel I am me
I often doubt my sincerity
But for others I do care
My life with them
 I do share

I wander all about
I smile at and greet
Those I pass along the way
I do this to brighten up my day
I’m not always a loner
As I often say

I love the variety of my psyche
I sometimes feel
The weight of the world
Compressing me
But my humanity bolsters me

The life I live
Is not child’s play
It is the only one I have
So I will work hard
But will not forget to play
