Life (in black and white)

I tried, I failed
I cried, I prevailed
Their lies broke me
And I hated myself
No-one wanted me and so I learned to love myself,
I have a love hate relationship with my own reflection but I'm still holding on.
Thanking God for the light he's given me,
and apologizing for closing my eyes and insisting there was darkness,
my guardian angel protects a heart,
covered in barbed wire which I have placed there for protection,
but have caused myself more pain. 
I know this isn't lovely or funny, I know that
this is life; 
but here is my pain written in black and white...
