Life in Stone

Life in Stone

I know tonight that I will sleep
and come tomorrow day will dawn.
Whatever hurt me yesterday
is now forgotten, past and gone

I see when nature is defied
and flowers  grow from granite rock,
when life feels pointless, tough and cruel
It’s time to stop and just take stock

The world will keep on turning
dark endless night abates.
Each breaking day a new beginning
a better future now awaits.

This was a wonderful read. So much hope brimming from your words. Reminded me of two things. My lovely mum who always liked to quote Gone With The Wind, when things went bad “tomorrow is another day” and also Audrey Hepburn who called her cat “Tomorrow” so that whenever she failed an audition, she could pick her cat up, hug it and say “it will be alright tomorrow” ... and I am waffling lol but your piece really made me reflect back to those as I often think of them when things go pear shaped

Lodigiana how are you and apologies for being late to your latest poetry party.
And a poem to entertain and uplift any guest and you never put a poetry foot wrong always delivering something unique as your poem lovingly shows.
Blooming with positivity, possibilities and hope for a better tomorrow.
Simply superb as always and one to reread and if you can spare the time and haven't read it try to make a beeline for Desiderata by Max Ehrmann, it is in the same vein as your poems of hope and goodwill.
I wish you well and all that jazzie jazz my poetic friend and not forgetting to mention the words, thank you for sharing.
Take care. Shaun.x.

Hi Shaun always so pleased to hear from you.Your mention of Max Ehrmann’s Desiderata takes me back to when I was quite a Hippy chick and I always carried a copy of this poem with me wherever I went.I loved the timbre of it but more than that I  found the words to be like a mantra to live by ....and still do.With maybe a small light on the horizon of normality I wanted to feel a spirit of positivity once more and hope that might have passed itself onto the readers. As always my lovely, stay safe,  stay well and in particular stay happy!Thank you Lodigiana x

Hello Lodigiana and just revisiting your poetry touch of class and hope all is well with your good self.
And  how right you are about it's timbre being a mantra to live by for it's a real beacon that brightly shines for all and it offers great calm in time of crisis and any inner doubt and turmoil. It is a beautiful  poetry rock to cling to, that never diminishes.
And you mention a spirit of positivity for that is what you and your poetry offer to me and many more.
And you too stay safe and happy and healthy Hippy chick (for you're only as old as you feel!!). Relive those unforgotten halcyon days in the now!!
I wish you well Lodigiana and thank you my poetic friend.
Shaun.x.

I am usually very much the optimist, but I can see I am a mere novice ... Oh' if only the above three stanza's could each be carved in stone and turned into universal truths .. what a trilogy ma'am poetic respect & all that jazz ............................................................................................  Neville :)
