Life In The Fast Lane
The birds flew in an arrow with me in the front,
nothing could stop us including a passing cormorant,
swallow hard to escape the claws of northern winter,
to find lush marshlands of a southern parameter.
My fourteen relatives were experts in their careers,
this journey was needed by all to allay our fears;
what would you wish to escape from, fifteen things,
come fly with us, all you need is a decent pair of wings.
The injustices we bare with no time to stand and stare,
from insults, mental harm and others who don't really care,
worry, angst, avian depression, sarcasm and ruffled feathers,
poor understanding, no recognition or rewarded endeavours.
The air became warm, bountiful feeding grounds up ahead,
now our minds could cast aside doubt and be properly fed.
