Life In The Fast Lane

Life In The Fast Lane

We went skiing in St. Moritz, a change from the pits,
and away from racing, no devil on my shoulder sits;
I remembered when we were poor, mindset still the same,
unmoved, grinned at my Rolex watch but you wanted fame,

You wanted the four million dollar house, I'm just a mouse,
put me with the guys drinking beer, I'm still a scouse;
they say that I haven't changed, including underwear,
the difference is that now I have time to stand and stare.

It's perception, the key to this strange life of ours,
we think we know everything, pondering for hours,
about the way things used to be - can't re-wind mon ami,
go forward, count the dreams you have and your mystery.

We gazed on the terrace, looking thro' tall conifer trees,
eat your heart out for the car - and then say pretty please.
