Life's Building Bricks

On the fifth of February, nineteen sixty six
I started with my life's building bricks
Born at twenty five Milne Road
This was my very loving, family home
My brother and sister, left home when I was young
Only to be doted on,by my dad and mum
Dad was a miner,a brave man of coal
My mum,she was our families, very heart and soul
While my dad was at work,my mum did her best
To cast aside life's ups and downs, that put her to the test
My childhood was terrific, with great family and friends
To my best mate, who lived over the road,I hope our friendship never ends
We'd be out playing with all our mates
We'd play Rallicko in the woods, until it was late
We'd swim at Carters Corner,in the weeds,we'd float down to Red Bridge
We'd have picnics with the food we had, that we'd raided from the fridge
Our memories are life's building bricks, weather they're good or bad
I've had a good start in life, with good friends and a great mum and dad
Now that I've grown older, some hiccups along the way
Bad news and sadness incurred on my journey, makes me stronger, every day
These past years, have been the happiest years,I've had for a while in my life
My lady who I hold so dear in my heart,is now my gorgeous wife
Where ever life's journey takes you,or whatever you become
Never forget, you began to build your life, with your dad and mum
