light fresh + new

Sun's shining
I could write about that
How it means nothing more
Than a sunlit front door
strikes me though and,
Importantly too
I could write from the sunny side
light fresh + new
but this lined paper mocks
Damn, this dressing gown's old
seems despite all this sun
my mind's blank and cold
I won't write then
not today,
M

This poem sort of encapsulates the ennui of the likes of Baudelaire. I love the line about the lined paper mocking because doesn't it just have a habit of doing that. And I like the portrayal of the writer searching for something, anything to write about. The sun shining, an old dressing gown but then giving in and accepting that nothing will get written - not today anyway. Love the title though sadly it does not provide the requisite inspiration.
