Poem -

A light has gone out in my life

A light has gone out in my life.

A light that sometimes I wasn’t even aware was shining has gone out . Suddenly and brutally extinguished, never to shine again.

I didn’t even know it was there until really dark moments when it grew from a flicker to a beacon in the gloom.
And now I live with the dark and accept it will always be. Nothing can revive the light.

Sometimes a chink of sun or a torch will penetrate but always temporary and never stable. Just enough to look around and see others still living in the light.

And then return to the dark – because that’s where I belong now.

The light in my life has gone out.
