Lights

Evenings so rich, when black is dark
Dawn breaks with the singing of a lark
The city sleeps through day and awakes at night
If Heaven is the light, Hell is a fiery fright
Marvel in awe at the Aurora Borealis
Lights a plenty, of galaxies endless
Christmas lights flashing, always splendid
Gaze upon a distant stars twinkle intently
Many glow worms within the cave illuminate
The moon beams down for those still awake
Sounds of crackling as the fire burns ferociously
The big screen emitting flickering imagery
One solitary flare signals the attack
Lanterns penetrating the thick nights black
A lit candle wick remains constant yet still
As the sun arises from behind the hill
Lighthouses brightly beam in which sailors bask
Street lamps struggling dim not up to task
The torches batteries begin to expire
Soaring souls from another funeral pyre
Angry rumbling volcanic eruptions echo
Like the dawning of an apocalyptic crescendo
Dark the perfect setting for a spark of light
As the curtains are drawn the room comes alive.
