Like A Rolling Stone

As a young man
I remember crossing
a street in Quito
the entrance to
the world
had just begun
I remember thinking
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone
A year or twoÂ
later
thumbing through
books at Uppsala University
in Sweden
I caught her glance
hearbeat
raced
knees weak
as she whispered to me
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone
Just south of the DMZ
wading through rice paddies
certainly not wanting to be there
as I felt a piece
of my soul
and all
that was lost
withered away
with the fadingÂ
of my morality ....
It was in this state
thatÂ
My spirit
could hearÂ
a familiar
tune chanting
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be on your own
With no direction home
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone
Decades past
 and once again
I found myself
Exiled
a choice
neither I
nor my family
wanted
Nevertheless
 I completed
the mission
knowing full well
how it
felt
to be on your own
with no direction home
like a complete unknown
like a Rolling Stone
Yet this time
My soul
took a different
direction
forÂ
My loved ones
criedÂ
we will
give you direction home
You are loved and Known
And from now on
Your stone will not
roll
as it sits
on solid ground.....................................................................
