This is a poem about all poetry.

Let's start again...

this is a poem about poetry,

from within a poem,

meta as could be.

You found a place in writing a poem,

that's special...like beginning:

This is a poem about all poetry.

Let's start again,

this is a poem about poetry,

from within a poem,

meta as could be.

Many successful poems use repetition,

some do not,

some do not,

true, true,

some do not.

We are fast arriving at the end of the poem...

The term "Poem" does not come from Sir Edgar Allen Poe,

nor from Sir Charles Poem,

but Calvin Cottringer,

who first said the cryptic verse,

all of life is a Poem,

while for centuries this saying was not understood,

it was later understood.

Poetry is distinct from other writing...

you can make up your own facts in poetry,

OK... maybe I LIED about Cottringer,

maybe he does not exist...YET,

maybe he is yet to be born,

did you ever think of that?

Maybe you are the father or mother of this child,

who will give birth to poetry...

There was a first poem and a first song,

the tribesfellow must have looked peculiarly on this person,

She must have amazed them,

please note conceptual conditional speculation is not the same as a lie,

maybe it was a He...

maybe it was a Hermaphrodite.

Hermaphrodites get completely excommunicated from the popular media,

they are looked at as freaks,

this is what poetry should protest,

that we are not unified, not necessarily so that we unify, a certain degree of difference and distinction is good,

poetry should protest that we aren't unified in the sense that results in our being mostly consistent with an ethical approach.

OK I am running out of things to talk about...

Many great poets believe this is a good time to quit the poem,

but stubborn minds, some of them belonging to even greater minds of greater poets, hold onto that poetic inspiration...

and keep writing.

I know you are guessing at what kind of a poet I am, and what kind of a poem this is,

well that's none of your business,

sometimes poetry is moody, OK?

My poems are all alive, like they are in the background of a movie,

If I won a time machine in a local raffle,

I would go back in time to be a background actor in The Sound of Music,

I would overact to get the director's attention, and steal the scene,

I think that's like up there in the top three or four ways of how to use a time machine,

many people do not know HOW to use a time machine...

I say just push the buttons till something interesting happens,

You might just create a tear in the space-time continuum and meet the cast of Star Trek,

maybe all cast members are somewhere in space-time,

I wonder if they have lunch with the members of Star Wars,

or if they fight to the death on which is the best...

Yeah I bet they do,

I bet there's no one left in the time-space continuum because they are busy killing each other to prove a point.

I changed my mind... I don't want to win a time machine in a raffle,

I won't buy tickets if I ever see one on sale for a time machine.

I have made up my mind...

This is TOTALLY perhaps one of the best poems ever written;

perhaps it is...

who decides?

They said The Stairway to Heaven was the best song ever written,

playing on instruments is a kind of writing,

see that FACT amuses me more than the particular accomplishment,

I am strumming along in one of the best poems of all recorded history,

Without recording poetry, Poetry is a dead art...

I am writing longer because I want this to be my first epic poem,

I think epic poetry is kinda neat,

because it's epic.

Homer was an epic poet.

I am sorta too now.

I guess you would never believe this is my first epic poem...

I like to write,

it makes me feel good.

Good poets write down their memories...

When I was a child I used to cut across the backyards of my neighbours to take a short cut to school.

I believe traveling this way two hundred times a year saved me up to three minutes each time,

that's just more time to write amazing poems,

they all don't have to be epic,

but this one obviously is,

the cool thing about being a poet is you can use metaphors and asimilie, but I can't spell the latter,

when I said Epic I was sometimes using a double entendre,

in western culture epic means amazing,

and this is clearly my best work,

I was going to get a PHD in poetry but this poem single-handedly changed my mind.

Thanks Poem,

I hate you now,

not you audience,

just this,

good poems don't drone on... and on... and on...

I am droning on a bit, but that's because maybe just maybe it's amazing, and not just good,

Some poems are long and become anthems of a generation,

THIS poem is like Allen Ginsberg's HOWL or something, it's otherworldly, it has cast a spell on you...

Is it a good sign if the poet becomes bored part of the way into writing the poem or is that normal?

I should have become a vet,

I like animals,

they're delicious too,

some of them,

but not all,

I would like never eat a pet,

it's unethical.

I wish I were vegan,

they're like the coolest,

OK, for real now we are approaching the end of the poem,

before I was saying it was the end of the poem, because I did not yet decide it was going to be an epic poem yet,

now I am just not sure how to end the poem though,

I think...

funny stuff, Rockwell, and seriously, I think this is really good andĀ I read the whole thing, I've seen three line poems that I couldn't be bothered reading, lol.... great approach poet, break down the 'boundariesĀ ' Ā or rules or whatever, Ā maybe this is 'epic' I don't know, but it certainly is not like anything I've read on here before, well worth the time invested in reading it, you made me laugh, thanks man....tributeĀ
