LILIES
Breasts of Venus
Cups of milk
Givers of life
Part not with happiness
when the flowers wilt and milk spills from its petals,
for these cups once were carriers of laughter
filled with joy.
Let’s drink, not in greed, but in patience and in bliss
They too, are there in death
when on top of wooden last bed
they peaceful rest
They too, are there in love
when their soft flesh
gift me with the image of your body
laying placid under the white linen sheets.
In that instant, nature wrote the most enamoured poem
Exuberant cups
Lilies of life
Company in the last breath
When covered in morning dew and bathed in the first light,
their god-like beauty
are kissed by a thousand suns.

As ever with your poetry my friend the imagery is undeniable and undeniably inventive. I mean what a start to your poem. 3 lines each of 3 words which, to another poet, are deeply meaningful. I certainly have my ideas as to the meaning of your poem but the beauty of poetry is that its interpretation is in the eye of the reader and, whether that differs from the writer's intention, matters not for me. You are definitely a unique voice, both in content and presentation. I always have to choose a favourite line. Difficult in this poem for sure but I really like "nature wrote the most enamoured poem." So romantic, so true because nature does that then awaits the poet's touch.
Sensuous write! 👍🏼
Not only beautiful, but memorable too and that succinct opening statement is, for a man of many words, almost to die for .. nature captured in all its glory .. Neville
