Lingering Winter

Lingering Winter

Chilly March winds
remind me Spring is not here.
Snow expected,
Winter's last vestiges,
dragging jackets back,
defense detrimental on a cold, sunless day.

Longing to see a glimpse of light
breaking dreary, low clouds.
Spring in me, vital, radiant,
energizing;
even in this shivery, brief
interlude.

Candle lit early morning
rumination on the lunar eclipse
invisible to sight here.
Remembering past lunar views,
radiant full moon,
starlit darkness of new moon.

Surges of growth under the chill,
thawing ground.
Just a short wait and greens,
yellows, blues, lavenders, reds,
and pinks,
will appear.
