Literary realities

Literary realities

There are people in this world who hate
Things they don't understand.
They only focus on real things
That are boring, dull and bland.

It is those people whom I speak to,
Those who choose fiction worlds to diss.
And to those people who tell me "get real!"
I simply tell them this:

When my problems have all vanished,
My troubles gone astray.
When everyone is happy
And only see the light of day.

When everyone is equal,
All the different boys and girls.
That is when and only then,
I won't need other worlds.

For children these days are brought up
To see the world as bad.
"Things that are too good to be true,
are" they say - that's sad!

I'm not saying books are perfect!
Good characters need their flaws.
But I sometimes want to live in a book
And forget about rules and laws.

Now I know that nothing's perfect.
And where's the fun in that?
So I'm off to join my imperfect friends
-The Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat!
