Poem -

Little Ribbon.

The
little ribbon

Around
the neck of the doll

That
sits upon the war walls

He
keeps it as a keepsake

A
memento given to him

By
his humble daughter

His
lifeline, his live wire.

He
wipes away the tears

His
eyes have been clogged for years

So
many tears, so many years,

His
water diluted with whiskey

He
drinks away the agony

He
needs his family.

The
ground cracked

Like
his skin

So
many blisters

So
much hurt

So
much warfare.

It
can be tedious

Sitting
around awaiting

And
incoming machine

Humans
built to fight.

He's
a good man

With
medals shining under the sun

He's
a captain of authority

He's
a man of honour and credibility

Pushing
his gun at the sky

Why
oh why he says.
