LIVED FAR TO LONG

Caught your stare in another smile
paid for the ragged stranger's drink
as the que broke down crying
water split into Jesus
while the wine became mine
kneeling upon the plastic shoes
left by gods dirty collar

I've drunk nothing but red bloody crime
yet my lovers lay in the ball of twine
johnny cash called me sue
boy I really loved that name
we dug coal instead of vacant school
another piece sold to snort in hell

She served gin in a colourful place
I drank as much to raise the pace
so many saints seated on the burning bush
we never got cold again
