Living off the land 🐓

There was cats chasing mice in the Farmer’s shed, but the rats running amok were a sight to dread

Droplets of rat dung all over the room, adding to the aroma from the friesian cattle, and suffolk sheep’s perfume

Yet the cockerel that crowed upon the barnyard gate, was an early morning wakeup call that stopped any sleeping slumberer’s lying late

So as soon as this regal rooster had echoed his alarm, every animal in that farmyard was aroused from calm

“Cock-a-doodle-dooo” could be heard, when he flapped his feathered wings looking so absurd

And Ted Turnbull the friesian farmer and his stooped insufferable wife, would milk the dairy cows and the stench was rife

Mind you this country couple never smelt it at all, with mucky, muddy wellies and their  chickens on the wall

But all-in-all farmlife was grand.. growing all their own fresh produce and living off the land...
