Looking Glass

Looking Glass

So idyllic, so virginal clean,
Glide through life, blissfully pristine.
Survive queen of heart's palace
Oblivious, living life of Alice.

Proper adjectives obstruct throat,
Navigate life, sacrificial goat.
Forbid misery to rain on tea party
White rabbit scolds when tad tardy

Wanting acceptance as we all do,
Just better than most, hiding what eats through.
Pointing finger at mirror's reflection,
Self-staring, with judgmental rejection.

Aspersions won't hide naked truth,
Naivety lost somewhere in early youth.
Wear mask with confident pride,
It just can't disguise ugliness inside.

Paint Cheshire smirk on transparent face,
Madness looks better with smile in place.
Perilously falling through life's foggy mirror,
No guarantees, it will get damned clearer
