LOST AND FOUND

Lost is my capacity to love
Emptied of feelings 
That once flourished 
Like the garden of life

Relationships can be such a beautiful thing 
One day you're on the mountain top
Feeling like a king 
Then without warning 
Your heart is consumed with pain

Trusting someone with your heart again 
Becomes an issue 
You want to love so dearly 
But past hurts becomes a constant reminder 
Of how easy it is for someone to suffocate your love 

So you tell yourself.. never again 
I will protect myself, my heart at all cost
Never wanting to experience that pain ever again 

But the need to love, and be love
Goes unsatisfied
So little by little you find yourself 
Peeking, and crawling out from that hidden cave
Where you've been dying for years 

Now the one that was lost and afraid 
Though cautious and timid 
Like the dead has been raised 
And is giving a second chance 
To love again.
