Poem -

Love drunk

Is this what love feels like?Β
To need you
To reach out
And you are there for me.
When my mind is shattered
A shotgunned pane of glass
You can soothe and smoothe
And melt me back together.
When life has ravaged
my face and my frame
you can fill me with the golden glow
of youth and song and laughter.
I reach out,
and you are there for me.
When my heart is a stone
and my blood flows like mud
You hold me, enfold me in your embrace.
I can drink you all in
till the pain fades to numb.
When my eyes are blinded
by sorrow and loss and rage and despair
I can pour it all out
until it is gone
until there's no more
and one more empty bottle lies on the floor.
