Love Is

Love is knowing just who you are,
With God in your spirit and soul,
Relinquishing all control of yourself,
As your needs are put on hold,

Love is what you do,
In spite of things gone wrong,
Holding your trust in God,
His will becomes your own,
 
Love is speaking words on high
When you’re feeling lost and low
Facing unforgiving storms
While standing tall and bold

Love is letting others chose
When it’s not what you believe
It’s not about what you want
Or even what you perceive
 
Love is holding on to hearts
Desperately needing to be held
And letting go when the time is right
So you can watch them as they sail

Love is hearing sounds of pain
A voice abound with grief
Listening without saying a word
As they speak themselves into peace

And yet Love is simply timeless
A precious gift of life
Set in our hearts and minds at birth
As we chose between wrong and right
