Love of the land down under.

The dust settled on the landing, thanks to the calling of the rain,
You packed your bags
And said goodbye
I'd hoped to see you again
The paddocks aren't the same without you, the animals all seem down
- the kookaburra
laughed, the big old bastard
The moment that you left town
The moon it knows you've gone away, sending shadows across
My door
The star's don't seem to shine as bright, or delight
Me anymore
The phone it rings, I pick it up, I wish each time
That it was you
But when I call the number you left me, there's just no getting though
I watched the wombat leave his home, seems depressed and out
of sort
He's like me he can't control, the emotion and the thought
Even the river birds have flown away, maybe in search of you
They loved it when you came to visit, a cheeky fish or two
I skipped a stone just the other day, five times I watched it plop
And in my chest I felt my heart, miss you like it stopped
In every sunrise without you, there's a silence
Bitter sweet
To catch the brightening
Colours, to my eyes there is a treat, but lonesome
Is my traveling mind
And empty are my feet
I lay awake past midnight, the cricket's singing the same
old tune
And in my heart I have to wonder, should we meet again soon
And with the hours passing between, if you stop to think of me
As I flip my hat, on the dusty road, besides that big old tree
The one with all the memories under, the roots spread far to see
The love Of The land down under, the marriage of you and me.
