Love Sponges

I have a nickname for both my dogs, because all they want is love;

They’ll take all that you can give them; they’re gentle as a dove!

So I call them both my “Love Sponges”, for they absorb all that I possess;

And every day I produce some more, to sate their hungriness!

They never seem to get enough, but I’ve got a lot to give;

They follow me from room to room, in the house that we all live!

If I lay down on the floor with them, my face will get all wet;

For they’ll inundate it with their kisses, a thousand do I get!

And I’ve got a set of stairs for them, to climb up to my bed;

Where it seems their favorite spot to be, is to nestle by my head!

When we go for our three walks a day, they’ll kiss upon my legs;

That’s the way they show their love, when it’s a treat for which they beg!

And of course they love my loving, and soak up all that they can get;

But they also pay me dividends, and return three times my bet!

I know they’ll love me forever, as I will love them too;

My beautiful little “Love Sponges”, I’m so lucky that I have you!
