Poem -

love is a verb

Yesterday I wept at the bus stop

when I noticed an irregular verb

stranded on the dusty sidewalk

without any conjugation

This morning I sobbed

at a solitary train station

when I saw a dangling participle

without any clear antecedent

hijacked by a run-on sentence

With a split infinitive

I kneel at the altar of lexicon

praying for a literary miracle

of a simple, solemn and sensible sentence

to say how much I really love you
