MANCHINEEL TREE
I took a drink today
Whiskey drives the demons away
My mind is now free
To drift away
I want to share my vision
With the world
To go to a place
Beyond deep space
No longer part of the human race
I need to be loved by all mankind
To digest my words
Will expand your mind
Will I die a pain free death
When I take my last breadth
Or will I die
And go out on a drunken high
I sit here writing words on paper
Hoping to create a mystery caper
Asking why God have you forsaken man
Why do we have to watch the killing madness on TV
As the dead try to flee
Please read my words
Maybe one day hope will embrace me
Only then can you bury my bodyÂ
Beneath the Manchineel Tree

Hi Marion,
Thanks for the nice comment
Interesting creative write. Watching the world events can affect us all. I guess we all cope in our own way. Nature helps me. Anyway, your poem reminds me of a poem I wrote years ago called A Sip of Deceiving Love. Someone I loved went down that path and I sadly lost them. Â
Hi Shirley,
Thanks for the comment you made my day.
This poem reads very well! Love the flow of the words x
Hi Being Me,
Thank you for the comment. I don't drink a lot but did down 16 oz of Whiskey to see if I could write a poem. I also want to congratulate you on your success as a author.Â
Hahaha...I'm sure you don't need whisky to write a poem! Lol!
And thankyou x
