Magnolia Breeze

Magnolia Breeze
A flower first begins her passage as a frail and tiny seed.
Then flourishes steadily day by day, receiving all she needs.
From cool crisp hues
And morning dew,
To warming rays
And fresh spring days.
As her arms break through the ground to reach toward the shining sun.
Her journey into the twists and turns of life’s maze has begun.
Fresh breezes blow
As petals grow.
Another dawn
A day is gone.
She grows along so gracefully, then joined in by another.
And with their love she then becomes both loving wife and mother.
Children born.
A husband mourned.
A mother’s part.
A woman’s heart.
She will see generations pass before her, hour after hour.
Through the beautiful white eyes of this strengthened Southern flower.
It’s left to chance
This dance we dance.
Her years to give
A life to live.
The leaves about her start to make their decent upon the Earth.
And all around she is reminded of life, death, and rebirth.
Her petals fall.
A loss for all.
A pain to feel.
A hurt to heal.
A long lived life now put to rest with Heaven’s gentle ease.
But in our thoughts she’ll always be when we smell that magnolia breeze.
In Loving memory of Beatrice Harris Griffin, 1925-2006
