Major Oak

like Marian, I go to Lincoln
on a just quest
without Robin to assist
as I have no Robin
to call upon
a fair maiden has to
fight her own justice
the forrest is ever increasing
and I long to take refuge
in the grand old oak
in Sherwood glade
where as a maiden
I played without care
but there's my big world
out there to be saved
saddle me a mare

He's probably too busy 'robbing from the rich to give to the poor'...greasing the skids of the trickle-down economy! He's a cog in a system that he doesn't understand...but Marian sees the truth; that the system needs to be demolished and rebuilt in a more equitable manner.
It's a pity that her "just quest" may be a lonely one too...but all true heroes work alone.
Lovely poem...edged with sadness and regret.
