Poem -

Mam, stop lying down...

Mam, stop lying down...

Mam, stop lying down...

I feel you holding my skin and bone hand with the strength of your life
I've had a grip like yours and I've lived my troubles and strife
I've kissed your dad under the stars and smiles came and gone
I just want to go and now I see it in your eyes that you know

I know mam, stop lying down and go see my dad
Open your wings and see his smile once again and fly
Rid yourself of this dementia disease I pray for you on my knees
Stop lying down
Open your wings, see dad and fly

I feel your wise head against my pale grey shoulder
I feel your breath slowly warming my chest
When I was a young heart I wished nothing but being older
I love you daughter my life has been perfect

I know mam, stop lying down and go see my dad
Open your wings and see his smile once again and fly
Rid yourself of this dementia disease I pray for you on my knees
Stop lying down
Open your wings, see dad and fly

Mam, this is your daughter and your eyes for your next life
I see your thin skin I see your vacant look in your lost eyes
You are my mother but yet a stranger for this mam isn't mine
I loved your life and coluful mind still I can't stop crying

Darling, this is your mam the woman who carried a child who became my world
The woman who seen her daughter run free and separate herself from the crowd
Please don't shed more tears on my life I'm going to see your dad
I've rid myself of this chilling disease so don't be feeling lost or sad

I know mam, stop lying down and go see my dad
Open your wings and see his smile once again and fly
Rid yourself of this dementia disease
Stop lying down
Open your wings, see dad and fly
Mam, stop lying down
Mam... stop lying down. X
