Marina the mermaid 🧜‍♀️

But sometimes the things that we haven’t got are the things that we crave..as she sat on a rock watching an oncoming wave..
                                ~
And there in the distance she saw the people with those funny feet..little ones playing in the soft, silky sands enjoying the heat

As she looked over to the shore and she listened for a while..the thought of having no fishtail made Marina smile..
                                ~
Now she was only ten years of age so wasn’t very old and up till now..she had  always done what she was told

“Marina” her Mother would say “Stay hidden in the ocean well out of harms way”..
                               ~
‘’If I swim to the shore and lie on the land my fishtail will shrivel up and stay on the sand”..then underneath that tail, there will be my two ‘people pins’.. not a scaley bottom half with dorsal fins”

Well what was she waiting for..as Marina splashed into the ocean and swam for a mile or more, to the call of the shore..

Of course she lay on the sunburnt beach..on a deserted bit of the island, with no humankind in reach

Then she watched and she waited looking down at her tail..she was so fedup of living like a whale..

Marina had almost dried out and she didn’t feel at all well..her fishtail was twitchy with an unpleasant smell

She had sat on the sand without any salt on her skin..and she wondered if this was the reason why she felt so sick within..
                                ..
As she was lying on the shore sunkissed in a shrivelled heap..luckily for her, the tide came rolling in, surrounding her fishtail so dense and deep
