Martha’s Shanty town
She dwells in a tiny shanty town
There’s never ever much goin on
Its not got ‘up-to-date technology
So it doesn’t have the latest mod con
Marthas not bothered about her mobile phone
She was prepared for livin’ in the sticks’
Away from her husband to be
With his habitual cheating on her & addictive old tricks
How many times had she trusted him
Tho each occasion ended up in her tears
This last fling was the final straw
Martha had put up with it for years
Thankfully they didn’t get around to tying the marital knot
Too busy working all hours God sends & saving in the pot
So at long last she was free to do exactly as she pleased
No more mental abuse & being constantly deceived
Martha had settled in here
Her neighbours were such treasures
She had lifted all her life away from all her past, so desperate measures
But given time she thought this little town would do
Would give her ideal ‘Inner space’
As she stared into the rising flames
In her room stone hearth fire place
It was her period of positivity
Never to look back on all her gloom
Accept that waitress job in the local cafe
& to decorated her basement room
Plenty to keep her occupied
She’d meet new faces, find good friends
This was her chance to start all over again
Her house felt like home, just needed odds & ends
Well ten years or more has passed by
Martha’s found her ‘Inner sole’
She adores her waitress 9-5 job at the local watering hole
The natives have accepted her
They show her kindness & respect
Infact living in this shanty town Is absolutely perfect
