Poem -

May I Pause?

The soul wails, pain: the heart wails, love. I’m so torn. And
Midnight prayer, a daily sacrifice. May I pause? Something
Is slowly dying; and such mystery—a concrete rose. She
Cringes love, a fervent rainbow. And something lives, an
Infant’s prayer. May I pause? She touches soul, a fervid
Trespass—and I float. Forgive my constant inquiry—I’m
Bent on truth, certain to offend. And blurry vision, a
Waking answer. Drift the winds, my love: exploit the pain;
For something so delicate, treads the cliff. May I pause?
I fathom the ransom, such glorious ambition; and I fathom
The ache—distorted by circumstance. My friend, what is
This mystery, a rocky submarine?  Could heart define the
Boundaries?—for I panic meditation, alert to waves. And
My star, my first composition: I proffer joy. May I pause?
