Maybe He Prefers Dogs

I thought you'd come home with roses in your hand
But you came home with just a bodyÂ
It wasn't yours
And it wasn't mine
I'd been laying somewhere low for quite a time
It seems I left my body there
Watched it all transpire
Your sweet smile to a wicked grinÂ
Those warm sun globes froze over from within
And I couldn't help but watch and think 'no this isn't right'
Time moves on swift feet
Like the ones that walked out my doorÂ
I ran after you and in the end still watched you saunter away
You walked like on air and I drug my heavy heart up slanted stairs
I couldn't even look back because I didn't know who might be looking at me
Certainly not youÂ
Time won't wait for you like I did at so many doors
You slammed every single fucking oneÂ
In
MyÂ
Face
I lost face and my courage when I met you
All my thoughts revolved on how do I keep this
How can I preserve an energy source that everyone says can't last
And it didn'tÂ
I gave you a pen and I gave you a knife
You could write our story
Or you could stab me in hopes that'd I'd die
I didn'tÂ
I've got a hell of a scarÂ
I'll add it to my collectionÂ
Is that what love is?
Just handing a bullet to someone with a gun
You know my mum says I've got a heart shaped face
But your sweet mouth didn't lie to meÂ
Put the gun up to my head and put the trigger in your handÂ
I gave you power over me
I let you domesticate and train me
I gladly wore a collar for you
Because i'd be anything you want my pet
Even your trained house cat
Too bad you're allergicÂ
