Me And My Shadows

Me And My Shadows

I used to have two shadows, that went wherever I would go;
My Nico and my Cody, as pure as the whitest snow!
We were a tried and true Triumvirate, all for one, and one for all;
Though they were very small in stature, they stood so very tall!
.
They were the giants that watched over me, they kept me safe and sound;
Wherever I would walk on, they worshipped the very ground!
We traveled as a trio, my two shadows by my side;
Our love was so unparalleled, they were my joy and pride!
.
But now they both have left me, Fate stole them right away;
My Soulmates went to Heaven, I miss them night and day!
Some time I hope to join them, on the Trails of Paradise;
Till then, these sacred memories, will have to me suffice!
.
                       Shadows disappeared
               Became my sorrows darkness
                  With tears from my Soul

Oh Dear Larry,  My mother and me are right there with you recently losing our dogs we had over 13 years. Home doesn't seem like home with them gone. I love all your poems. Your so gifted and warm.  Glad I woke up early to read a little.  Give yourself a hug from me. Love to you...

My Dear Terry,

I am so very sorry for your terrible loss.  How old were they?  Did you have two, like we did?  What breed were they?  I am sitting here, feeling your pain.  It is such a travesty that our beautiful doggies have such a short longevity, while other species, like Cockatoos, live seventy-five years.
Thank you for your beautiful response.  I am sending a big hug to you also.

Love,
Larry xxx

Dear Larry, I have a Cockatoo and I wish my dogs lived longer.  I had  my Ridgeback for 13 yrs....made her Chicken and rice for almost 4 years but I got to keep her...my other dog was a lab and had him for 10 yrs.  All my dogs have been rescued but my lab.  I now have a Red Heeler which is a rescue...she got sick about 2 months ago and paying off a $850.00 vet bill but she's home!  Are you y'all going to get another dog?  I hope so... I think you and your wife have lots of love to give.... I always love to hear from you...Hugs to you and yours..love, Terry Kay

Our Dear Terry,

We know about those expensive vet bills, and paying them off monthly, because we experienced it several times.  Of course, no matter what it would have taken to sustain them, we would have found a way.
As for getting another puppy right now, we are not.  But it could happen in the future.
We always love to hear from you too.

All our love,
Linda and Larry xxx
